Earlier this week, the Visual Concepts Development Team published a dev blog in which they shared numerous juicy details about the series' flagship game mode for NBA 2K22—MyCareer—in great detail. Here's everything we know about what's coming to MyCareer in the latest iteration of the virtual basketball game, with less than a week until the game's release. It is expected that NBA 2K22, which will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, will provide a unique 2K experience unlike any other before it, with a quest-based MyCareer story that takes place entirely within the new City. Taking the storytelling movie format of previous years and turning it into an interactive adventure by allowing the user to take full control of the narrative by completing both the main storyline Quests and a slew of Side Quests in various City locations was said to have been the inspiration for the move. There are claims that the dynamic story will center on the rise of MP, a former high school star with a large social media following who has recently relocated to New York City with the intention of taking over both on and off the court. It will be up to the player to build their playing resume as well as their personal brand in music and fashion through pickup games, college, the G League, training sessions, interviews, and other avenues of promotion. Along with a reimagined City and Quest system, those playing on next-gen consoles will soon be able to dive into matchmaking buildings, affiliations, events, and more, thanks to an all-new Seasons system designed to keep things interesting and fresh.NBA 2K22's 75th Anniversary Edition Interview.
What to Expect from NBA 2K22 MyCareer (current generation consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC) NBA 2K22 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It features a moving Neighborhood, a vacation cruise ship called the “Cancha del Mar,” which players will embark on after purchasing the game on those platforms.
According to the company, each level of the ship is accompanied by NPCs and artistically designed, with plenty of hoops activities to keep players entertained all year long on every level, including the lobby. However, while Deck 4 is home to the ship's lobby, taking the elevator to Deck 8 will take players to their customizable MyCourt, Pro-Am games, and Team Practice Facility, among other things. Antenna, the Game Room, restaurants, as well as Daily Pick Em and the Daily Spin will be located on Deck 14. Playing fields for 2v2s and 3v3s can be found on Deck 15, and the Gatorade Training Facility can be found on Deck 16. Deck 16 also contains numerous 3v3 courts, including the Moat, which is an outdoor 5v5 court that is surrounded by a lazy river. In addition, the top deck is said to house a reality show called "The GOAT Boat," in which players will be able to interact with the cast members in order to receive challenges and rewards. According to reports, the Cancha del Mar will dock at a variety of locations, allowing players to explore tropical and well-known locales as part of new Excursions that will be available with the launch of each Season's new content.
